
Pastor Fox's Bio
Dr. Curtis A. Fox was born in Trinidad and Tobago. He grew up a Seventh-day Adventist and was active in the local church from a very early age. He heard the call to ministry in his youth and began preparing for Christian service and full time pastoral ministry. He attended Caribbean Union College, now called University of the Southern Caribbean, and earned a BA degree in Theology. Subsequent to that, he served as a minister of religion and worked in a number of pastoral districts, at times serving as many as 7 congregations at one time. He last pastored the Cleveland Temple of Seventh-day Adventists in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad before migrating to the United States.
Dr. Fox attended Loma Linda University and studied for a Master of Science degree in Marital and Family Therapy and a graduate certificate in Family Life Education. Upon completion of these programs, he matriculated to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and studied for a Ph.D. in Child and Family Studies. He was appointed assistant professor at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga and taught marriage and the family, parenting, and marriage and family therapy. In January of 1999, he came to Loma Linda University’s Department of Counseling and Family Sciences and taught in the marriage and family therapy and family studies programs. Dr. Fox is now a full professor and is the director of the MA and Ph.D. programs in family studies.
In 2000, Dr. Curtis Fox was appointed senior pastor of the Imani Praise Fellowship of SDA, and held that position for two years. He was then asked to serve as the Associate Pastor of the Mt. Rubidoux SDA church in October of 2002 and has held that position to this present time.
Dr. Curtis Fox is a member of several professional organizations. He is Chair Elect of the Ethnic Minority Section of the National Council on Family Relations, and is a member of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, the American Association of Marital and Family Therapy, the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the Society for Research on Adolescents, and the Society for Research in Human Development. He is a consultant to the National Institute of Justice, and recently served as First Vice President of the Boys and Girls Club of San Bernardino, California. Dr. Fox is a licensed marital and family therapist in California and is a Certified Family Life Educator by the National Council on Family Relations. He is actively involved in family ministries and has done seminars and workshops all around the world.
He is married to the former Paula Jacob. Paula practices family medicine in Riverside, California. Together, they enjoy meeting and ministering to people. They love home care, cooking, and entertaining and have a passion for mission service. They love church and enjoy active participation in church life. They have two children, Dana and Anthony Josiah.
